In 2000 The Ridge
Art Association celebrated its 50th year in Winter Haven, Central Florida
with an exhibition entitled:
"A Woman's Legacy"
The
woman honored was Jean Wagner Troemel, founder of the association. Through enlisting
the help of fellow artists Sophia Price, George Mathews, Barbara Davis, and
Husband Al Davis of the Camber of Commerce, Jean established a vibrant art association
that continues to serve Winter Haven and the surrounding communities.
Professional Artists of St. Augustine
Out
of a desire to provide local artists in the
St.Augustine area with a professional setting to exhibit and sell their work,
Jean founded the Professional Artists of St. Augustine Fine Art Gallery. Set
up as a not for profit, it is the longest operating gallery in St.Augustine.
Under her direction and with the support of its members, P.A.ST.A. has made
a substantial contribution to the arts community and has helped launch the full
time painting careers of many local artists.
