Jean
Wagner Troemel spent her early childhood in Florida, attending schools in
the Palm Beaches. She began painting as a child. Her first teacher was Eric
Geski in 1930. Later in Palm Beach, she studied with Nunzio Vayana, an important
force in the development of art in the Palm Beaches.
After high school, she attended the National Cathedral School for Girls in
Washington, D.C. She then attended the Art Students' League and the National
Academy of Design in New York City in 1940 studying with George Bridgman,
Frank Dumont, Sidney Dickinson and Henry Rittenberg. Troemel also studied
privately with M.A. Rasko in New York. In addition, she attended The Norton
School of Art in West Palm Beach, Florida and the University of New Mexico,
Albuquerque where she studied with Santa Fe painter Randall Davey.
Troemel exhibits
widely and has shown her work at the University of Florida, Gainesville, Florida;
The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art, Sarasota, Florida; The Sarasota
Art Association, Sarasota, Florida; The Norton Museum of Art,
West Palm Beach, Florida; The Society of the Four Arts, Palm Beach, Florida;

Jacksonville, Florida; Stetson University, DeLand, Florida; The New Mexico
Art Museum, Santa Fe, New Mexico; The Denver Art Museum, Denver, Colorado;

She has been recognized
